About Us

Local, family‑owned. Family‑focused. Pet‑centred.
Low‑stress, cooperative care with full‑spectrum veterinary medicine. Community‑based approach.

Harewood Pet Hospital is a locally owned, family-run veterinary clinic proudly serving Nanaimo’s Harewood/University District. Conveniently located at 508 Eighth Street, we provide compassionate, full-service medical care for both dogs and cats.

Our team offers a complete range of veterinary services, including wellness exams, vaccinations, dentistry, in-house diagnostics (bloodwork, X-ray, and FAST scans), as well as soft-tissue surgery. We’re also here when unexpected issues arise, with same-day appointments for urgent concerns during our open hours.

At Harewood Pet Hospital, you can expect friendly, familiar faces and continuity of care with the same veterinarian throughout your pet’s visit. We believe in open communication, transparent treatment plans with clear estimates, and making quality care accessible—including convenient weekend availability for busy families.

Your pets are family, and we treat them with the same care and respect we would our own. Let us support you in keeping them healthy, comfortable, and thriving.

Meet Our Founder

Dr. Satnam Singh Mann (“Sunny”) is the founder and medical director of Harewood Pet Hospital in Nanaimo. Raised in a farm community, his connection to animals began in childhood and informs a practical, compassionate style of care. A veterinarian since 2015 with a Master’s degree (2017), he began in mixed-animal practice serving farm communities in India, caring for both small and large animals. After moving to Canada, he worked on Vancouver Island as a veterinary technician during the pandemic while completing licensing, earning Canadian licensure in November 2021. He then practiced in Medicine Hat and Olds, Alberta (2022–2024) before returning to Vancouver Island in July 2024, guided by a deep love for the Island. Those broad beginnings shaped his decision to focus exclusively on dogs and cats, where continuity and care make the biggest daily impact.

Dr. Mann chose the Harewood/University District for raising his family on the Island and wanted a clinic that serves the families and students he lives alongside. The neighbourhood’s strong community feel aligns with his vision for a family-run hospital for families offering continuity with the same Vet, low-stress care, and accessible hours.

Clinical strengths: preventive medicine, dentistry, surgery, internal medicine/diagnostics, and senior care—delivered with practical, transparent treatment plans and estimates. Outside the clinic, Sunny enjoys camping on the Island and time with his family. He believes the best veterinary medicine blends diagnostics with calm, cooperative handling and clear communication—so pets (and people) leave feeling cared for. His long-term dream is to retire on a small farm on Vancouver Island.
